Minutes:

The purpose of the meeting was to consider an application for the review of a Premises Licence in respect of Reading Community Carnival, Prospect Park. The application had been submitted by Thames Valley Police. At the outset of the meeting, Robert Smalley, Enforcement Officer, advised the meeting that the Reading Caribbean Cultural Group (Licence Holder) had applied for an adjournment of the hearing. This was to enable the Licence Holder to gather more information in respect of the licence as well as for their representative to give her employer sufficient notice of attending the meeting.

Members considered that the grounds for the adjournment were reasonable. However, given that the matter had already been adjourned in March 2020, Members expressed the view that the meeting on 10 September 2020 should proceed. They indicated that they would not be sympathetic to another adjournment, were an application to be made, due to the length of time that had already elapsed since the request for a review of the Licence had originally been received.

Resolved –

That consideration of the review of a Premises Licence in respect of Reading Community Carnival, Prospect Park, Reading, be adjourned until 10 September 2020 at 9.30am.
