The Committee considered a report that outlined the changes to the membership of the Local Joint Forum (LJF). These changes had been considered at the meeting of LJF on 6 June 2024 (Minute 6 refers).

The report explained that the Council’s Constitution set out the role of the LJF but, that the membership of the LJF had not been reviewed since 2005. The report also included the terms of reference of the Local Joint Forum and stated that it was not proposed to make any changes to them.

Following discussion at the meeting of the LJF on 6 June 2024, and subsequent discussions with the Trade Unions, including at the Joint Trade Union Committee on 19 June 2024, the following list of Trade Union representatives to the LJF had been drawn up and recommended for agreement:

·       ASCL – Association of School and College Leaders;

·       Prospect;

·       AEP – Association of Education Psychologists;

·       GMB;

·       NAHT – National Association of Head Teachers;

·       NASUWT – National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers;

·       UCU – University and College Union;

·       NEU – National Education Union;

·       UNITE the Union;

·       Unison.

The report proposed that the revised list of Trade Unions to be represented at the LJF was agreed and to agree a quoracy of three Trade Union members and three Councillors.

Resolved:    That the proposed membership and quorum of the Local Joint Forum be agreed.
